Phone Leash – The Original

The original product of Forget Me Knots, the phone leash. This simple attachment connects to the case of a smartphone and anything else desired. By taking the end of the leash and looping it through the bottom opening of the phone case, it becomes a secure attachment. The other end can then attach to anything of the person’s choosing.

The prototype of this product was similar to a retractable lanyard that many people use for work IDs and keys. The first problem faced with this was the durability of the actual lanyard; the wire became incredibly worn over time and could not sustain the weight of the smartphone. The second problem was the limit to where the lanyard could be attached due to the simple clip. Inspiration was then drawn from rock climbing equipment – on a smaller scale of course. The durability of these products was the intended goal of Forget Me Knots’ final product.

After creating the ideal product, the company then created the Case-Leash Combination piece. This is where the retractable piece is permanently connected to the case, creating a higher convenience. Because this product has just been newly released, there are limited options for design. The next company launch will include a variety of colors and eventually access to customization.
